Barry L. Schlouch
Barry L. Schlouch is a family-first leader, devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather who believes lasting success begins at home. As President, Co-Founder, and Owner of Schlouch Inc, he has built a respected, 265-person site design and heavy civil construction firm headquartered in Blandon, Pennsylvania, delivering total site preparation services throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and surrounding states for over four decades—grounded in hard work, integrity, and a commitment to quality. The company was ranked #1 among large companies by Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania in 2000.
Barry is the author of Excellence in Construction and a sought-after speaker at corporate meetings, trade shows, and conferences. Before founding Schlouch Inc in 1983, he served as Vice President of Rubright Construction and held survey and crew positions with Robert Ludgate & Associates and J.E. Breneman Contracting Engineers, building his foundation in the field after growing up working on his family farm.
A member of the Young Presidents Organization, Barry completed 14 years of executive education through Harvard University Executive Education and a two-year Executive Leadership Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied at Penn State Berks and Lehigh Carbon Community College. In 2022, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Alvernia University in recognition of his humanitarian and philanthropic contributions.
Barry holds Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) status through the Association of Equipment Management Professionals and Safety Trained Supervisor of Construction (STSC) designation through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Beyond business, he is deeply committed to strengthening his community through education and workforce development, serving on the boards of Alvernia University, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, and Tec Centro Berks. His life’s work reflects a simple philosophy: lead with heart, build with purpose, and give back in ways that matter.
Barry is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys farming, exercise, hiking, swimming, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and exploring the wilderness on horseback. He and his wife, Deb—an accomplished artist—have two children, Barry A. and Stayce E. Their daughter, Stayce Rowlands, is happily married, a proud mother of three, and an active leader in the family business. The Schlouch family resides on a working farm in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.
